William Ponsonby, 1st Viscount Duncannon1

     William Ponsonby, 1st Viscount Duncannon was born in 1659.1 He was the son of Sir John Ponsonby and Elizabeth Folliott.1 He married Mary Moore, daughter of Hon. Randle Moore and Lady Jane Brabazon.2 He died on 17 November 1724.2 He was buried at Fiddown, County Kilkenny, Ireland.2 His will was probated on 11 December 1724.3
     He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, on 14 November 1677.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the British Army.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kilkenny from 1692 to 1693.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kilkenny between 1695 and 1699.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kilkenny between 1703 and 1721.4 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1715.4 He was created 1st Baron Bessborough, of Bessborough, co. Kilkenny [Ireland] on 11 September 1721.2 He was created 1st Viscount Duncannon, of the fort of Duncannon, co. Wexford [Ireland] on 28 February 1722/23.2 His last will was dated 11 August 1724.

     Maj.-Gen. Henry Ponsonby was born between 1680 and 1713. He was the son of William Ponsonby, 1st Viscount Duncannon and Mary Moore.1 He married Lady Frances Brabazon, daughter of Chambre Brabazon, 5th Earl of Meath and Hon. Juliana Chaworth.1 He died on 11 May 1745 at Fontenay, France, killed in action.1
     He lived at Ashgrove.1

     Chambre Brabazon, 5th Earl of Meath was born circa 1645.1 He was the son of Edward Brabazon, 2nd Earl of Meath and Mary Chambré.1 He married Hon. Juliana Chaworth, daughter of Patrick Chaworth, 3rd Viscount Chaworth of Armagh and Lady Grace Manners, before 1682.1 He died on 1 April 1715.1
     He succeeded to the title of 5th Earl of Meath [I., 1627] on 22 February 1707.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Lord Brabazon, Baron of Ardee, co. Louth [I., 1616] on 22 February 1707.1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1710.1

      From before 1682, her married name became Brabazon.
