     As a result of her marriage, Marion Home was styled as Countess of Home.

     Lt.-Gen. William Home, 8th Earl of Home was the son of Alexander Home, 7th Earl of Home and Lady Anne Kerr.1 He married Elizabeth Gibbons, daughter of William Gibbons, on 25 December 1742.1 He died on 28 April 1761, without issue.1
     He succeeded to the title of 13th Lord Home [S., 1473] in 1720.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Lord Dunglas [S., 1605] in 1720.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Earl of Home [S., 1605] in 1720.1 He gained the rank of Cornet in 1735 in the service of the 2nd Dragoon Guards.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1741 and 1761.1 He gained the rank of Captain-Lieutenant in 1743 in the service of the 3rd Foot Gurds.1 He fought in the Battle of Prestonpans on 21 September 1745, for the Government.1 He was Colonel of the 48th Foot between 1750 and 1752.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1755.1 He held the office of Governor of Gibraltar between 1757 and 1761.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1759.1
