     Marcus John De la Poer Beresford was born on 6 June 1882. He was the son of Arthur George de la Poer Beresford and Ellen Stuart Mayo. He married Alice Janet Smith, daughter of John Smith, on 4 February 1911. He married Edith Wilkins, daughter of Captain George Wilkins, in 1936. He died on 28 April 1952 at age 69.
