     Vice-Admiral Edward George Lowther Crofton was born on 9 August 1873.1 He was the son of George Lowther Crofton and Ellen Mary Norris.2 He married, firstly, Magdalen Sinclair Anderson, daughter of Duncan Anderson, on 25 February 1911.1 He and Magdalen Sinclair Anderson were divorced in 1925.1 He married, secondly, Rosalind Mabel Eaton on 4 August 1931.1 He died on 19 July 1942 at age 68.1
     Vice-Admiral Edward George Lowther Crofton fought in the China War.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1
