     Lilian Crofton was born on 20 September 1880.1 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. James Crofton and Clara Elizabeth Lake.2 She married, firstly, Charles Stanhope Foster Crofton, son of Major Henry Crofton and Ann Maria Foster, on 28 November 1903.1 She married, secondly, Major William Lister Newcombe, son of W. Lister Newcombe, on 17 June 1911.1 She died on 23 July 1976 at age 95.1
     From 17 June 1911, her married name became Newcombe.
