     Major Robert Benjamin Crofton was born on 19 September 1873.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. James Crofton and Clara Elizabeth Lake.2 He married Helena Chute Ridgway, daughter of Richard Grubb Ridgway, on 8 September 1904.1 He died on 23 November 1923 at age 50.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Garrison Artillery.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.1

     He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).1 He was registered as a M.I.A.A.1 He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Air Force.1 He fought in the Second World War.1
