     William Knox was born in 1813.1 He was the son of Reverend William Knox and Sarah Ferguson.2 He married, firstly, Gertrude Dabine, daughter of Thomas Dabine, in 1853.1 He married, secondly, Mary Isabella Frend, daughter of Benjamin Frend and Elizabeth Gough, on 11 July 1862.1 He died on 27 October 1867.1
     William Knox was with the Madras Civil Service.1
