     George Joicey was baptised on 26 November 1780.1 He was the son of George Jowsee and Jane Patteson.2 He married Jane Clark on 22 June 1805.1 He died on 2 March 1838 at age 57.1 He was buried on 26 March 1838.1
     He lived at Long Benton, Northumberland, EnglandG.1

James Joicey, 1st Baron Joicey1

     James Joicey, 1st Baron Joicey was born on 4 April 1846.1 He was the son of George Joicey and Dorothy Gowland.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Amy Robinson, daughter of Joseph Robinson, on 23 April 1879.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Smyles Drever, daughter of Colonel Thomas Drever and Marguerite de Fontaine, on 21 February 1884.1 He died on 21 November 1936 at age 90.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Chester-le-Street between 1885 and 1905.1 He was created 1st Baronet Joicey, of Chester-le-Street, co. Durham [U.K.] on 3 July 1893.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Durham University, Durham, County Durham, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Durham.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Durham.1 He was created 1st Baron Joicey, of Chester-le-Street, co. Durham [U.K.] on 13 January 1906.1
