     John Browne, 1st Earl of Altamont was born circa 1709.1 He was the son of Peter Browne and Mary Daly.1 He married Anne Gore, daughter of Sir Arthur Gore, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Annesley, in December 1729.1 He died on 4 July 1776.1 He was buried on 7 July 1776 at Westport, County Mayo, Ireland.1 His will was probated in 1776, in Prerogative Court, Dublin.1
     John Browne, 1st Earl of Altamont matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 17 July 1725.1 He held the office of Sheriff of County Mayo in 1731.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Castlebar between 1744 and 1760.1 He held the office of Governor of County Mayo.1 He was created 1st Baron Mount Eagle, of Westport, co. Mayo [Ireland] on 10 September 1760.1 He was created 1st Viscount Westport, of Westport, co. Mayo [Ireland] on 24 August 1768.1 He was created 1st Earl of Altamont, co. Mayo [Ireland] on 4 December 1771.1 He lived at Westport, County Mayo, Ireland.1

     Anne Gore was the daughter of Sir Arthur Gore, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Annesley.1 She married John Browne, 1st Earl of Altamont, son of Peter Browne and Mary Daly, in December 1729.1 She died on 7 March 1771.1
     From December 1729, her married name became Browne. As a result of her marriage, Anne Gore was styled as Baroness Westport on 10 September 1760. As a result of her marriage, Anne Gore was styled as Viscountess Westport on 24 August 1768.

     Peter Browne, 2nd Earl of Altamont was born circa 1731.1 He was the son of John Browne, 1st Earl of Altamont and Anne Gore. He married Elizabeth Kelly, daughter of Denis Kelly, on 16 April 1752.1 He died on 28 December 1780 at Westport, County Mayo, Ireland.1 His will (dated 19 August 1780) was probated in 1781.1
     Peter Browne, 2nd Earl of Altamont matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 26 October 1748.1 He was also known as Peter Browne-Kelly as of 16 April 1752.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Mayo between 1761 and 1768.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Earl of Altamont, co. Mayo [I., 1771] on 4 July 1776.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Westport, of Westport, co. Mayo [I., 1768] on 4 July 1776.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Mount Eagle, of Westport, co. Mayo [I., 1760] on 4 July 1776.1

     Elizabeth Kelly was the daughter of Denis Kelly.1 She married Peter Browne, 2nd Earl of Altamont, son of John Browne, 1st Earl of Altamont and Anne Gore, on 16 April 1752.1 She died on 1 August 1765.1
     From 16 April 1752, her married name became Browne.

     Rt. Hon. Arthur Browne was born in 1731. He was the son of John Browne, 1st Earl of Altamont and Anne Gore. He married Anne Gardiner, daughter of Silvester Gardiner, in 1766. He died on 21 July 1779.
     Rt. Hon. Arthur Browne lived at Newtown, County Roscommon, Ireland. He lived at Leixlip Castle, County Roscommon, Ireland.

     Anne Gardiner was the daughter of Silvester Gardiner. She married Rt. Hon. Arthur Browne, son of John Browne, 1st Earl of Altamont and Anne Gore, in 1766. She died in July 1807.
     Her married name became Browne.
