     Martin Ridley Debenham was born on 16 October 1909.¹ He was the son of Sir Ernest Ridley Debenham, 1st Bt. and Cecily Kenrick.² He married Beatrice Sydney Radcliffe, daughter of Venerable Harry Sydney Radcliffe, on 19 May 1937.¹ He died on 17 March 1977 at age 67.¹
     Martin Ridley Debenham was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).¹ He held the office of Member of the St. Pancras Borough Council between 1934 and 1952.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Rifle Brigade.¹ He held the office of Member of the Dorset County Council in 1964.¹ He held the office of Member of the Wareham and Purbeck Rural District Council between 1964 and 1977.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1966.¹
