     Maj.-Gen. Charles Julius Deedes was born on 18 October 1913 at 23 Dean Park Crescent, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of General Sir Charles Parker Deedes and Eve Mary Dean-Pitt.1 He married Beatrice Elaine Murgatroyd, daughter of H. M. Murgatroyd, on 4 September 1939 at St. Wilfred's Church, York, Yorkshire, England.2 He died on 7 May 2005 at age 91 at York, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1
     He was educated at Oratory School, Reading, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Second World War, in Europe and Italy, and was wounded.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He was Commanding Officer of the Glider Pilot Regiment between 1949 and 1950.2 He was Colonel of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry between 1966 and 1970.2 He gained the rank of Major-General in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.1

     Eve Mary Dean-Pitt was born in 1885 at Portsea, Hampshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Captain Stanley Talbot Dean-Pitt and Harriet Mary Augusta Williams.1,2 She married General Sir Charles Parker Deedes, son of Reverend Philip Deedes and Josephine Parker, on 4 July 1906 at Brompton Oratory, Kensington, London, England.1,2 She died on 27 July 1970 at Park Lodge, Budleigh Salterton, Devon, England.2
     From 4 July 1906, her married name became Deedes.1
