Sir Thomas Edward Gubbins Lucas, 5th Bt. was born on 16 September 1930.1 He is the son of Lieutenant Ralph John Scott Lucas and Dorothy Timson.2 He married, firstly, Charmian Margaret Powell, daughter of Lt.-Col. James Stanley Powell, in 1958.1 He married, secondly, Anne J. Graham in 1980.1
Sir Thomas Edward Gubbins Lucas, 5th Bt. was educated at Wellington College, Wellington, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was technical director of Vacuum Research (Cambridge) Ltd between 1959 and 1962.1 He was founder of the Engineering Capacity Exchange London in 1963.1 He was registered as a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.).1 He was technical director of Bourdon Tools between 1973 and 1982.1 He was a director of SGF Properties plc.1 He was an engineer and research analyst.1 He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Lucas, of Ashtead Park, co. Surrey [U.K., 1887] on 2 May 1980.1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society of Arts (F.R.S.A.).1 He was invested as a Fellow, Briitsh Institute of Management (F.B.I.M.).1 He lived in 2003 at Shermans Hall, Dedham, Essex, England.1
