Lt.-Col. Cyril Moseley Townsend was born on 8 August 1908.1 He is the son of Admiral Cyril Samuel Townsend and Mary Elizabeth Moseley.2 He married Lois Isabel Henderson, daughter of David Henderson, on 26 September 1933.1
Lt.-Col. Cyril Moseley Townsend was educated at Bradfield College, Bradfield, Reading, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded and evacuated at Dunkirk, and in Burma and India.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Durham Light Infantry.1 He lived in 1976 at Denbury Manor, Newton Abbot, Devon, England.1
