S/Ldr. Richard James Robert Haldane Makgill was born on 5 May 1907.1 He was the son of Sir George Makgill, 11th Bt. and Frances Elizabeth Grant.2 He married Elizabeth Lyman Hubbard, daughter of Gorham Hubbard, on 16 July 1932.1 He died on 9 August 1948 at age 41, killed in a plane crash.1
