Sir Joseph Sebag-Montefiore was born on 29 August 1822.1 He was the son of Solomon Sebag and Sarah Montefiore.1 He married Adelaide Cohen, daughter of Louis Cohen, in June 1851.1 He died on 19 January 1903 at age 80.1
Sir Joseph Sebag-Montefiore was baptised with the name of Joseph Sebag.1 On 29 August 1885 his name was legally changed to Joseph Sebag-Montefiore by Royal Licence.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent.1 He held the office of Lieutenant of the City of London.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Kent in 1889.1 He was invested as a Knight Bachelor in 1896.1 He was Italian Consul-General in London between 1896 and 1903.1 He lived at East Cliff Lodge, Ramsgate, Kent, England.1
