     Hugh Francis Birley was born on 23 September 1855 at Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, England.1 He was the son of Joseph Hornby Birley and Frances Dix.1 He married Elizabeth McQuorquodale on 30 April 1879 at Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, England.1 He died on 5 November 1916 at age 61 at The Mount, St. Asaph, Flint, Wales.1
