     Hugh Fraser, 1st Lord Lovat was the son of Hugh Fraser, 8th of Lovat and Janet Dunbar.1 He married Violet Lyon, daughter of John Lyon, 3rd Lord Glamis and Elizabeth Scrymgeour, before 1464.2 He died from 1 November 1499 to 30 April 1501.1
     He gained the title of 1st Lord Lovat. In 1457 so created.1 In 1464 came to an arrangement with his distant cousin Alexander Fraser of Philorth that each was to be heir male to the other in the event of either failing to beget heirs male of his body.1
