Hugh Fraser of Lovat, 3rd Lord Lovat was born in 1494.1 He was the son of Thomas Fraser, 2nd Lord Lovat and Janet Gordon.1,2 He married Anne Grant, daughter of John Grant, 2nd of Freuchie and Margaret Ogilvy, circa 1512.1 He married, secondly, Janet Ross, daughter of Walter Ross, before 19 July 1536.3 He died on 15 July 1544 at Loch Lochy, Scotland.1
He gained the title of 3rd Lord Lovat. Justiciar N of Scotland for MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS.1 In 1539 got a new charter incorporating the territorial Baronies of Abertarf, Lovat, Stratherrick and others into a free Barony of Lovat, to be held of him and heirs male of his body, in default of which to his next heirs male whosoever bearing the arms.1
He gained the title of 3rd Lord Lovat.
