John Elphinstone of that Ilk and of Pittendriech was the son of James Elphinstone of Pittendriech, younger.2 He died after July 1508.1
From 1496 to 1497 he was granted charters of his Stirlingshire lands.1 He resigned his lands to his overlord Patrick, 4th Lord Lindsay of the Byres, to be held direct from the Crown and erected into the territorial Barony of Elphinstone.1
