Admiral John Elphinstone1

     Admiral John Elphinstone was born in 1722.1 He was the son of John Elphinstone and Anne Williams.2 He married Amelia Warburton, daughter of John Warburton, on 23 October 1750.1 He died on 28 February 1785.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Admiral in 1770 in the Russian service, commanding Catherine the Great's fleet at the Battle of Cheshme or Tchesme, when the Turkish fleet was destroyed.1 He had three other sons.1

     Amelia Warburton was the daughter of John Warburton.2 She married Admiral John Elphinstone, son of John Elphinstone and Anne Williams, on 23 October 1750.1 She died in February 1786.1
