     Howard Elphinstone was born on 9 June 1804.1 He is the son of Lt.-Gen. Sir Howard Elphinstone, 1st Bt. and Frances Warburton.2 He married Elizabeth Julia Curteis, daughter of E J Curteis, on 30 September 1829.1 He died on 16 March 1893 at age 88.1
     Howard Elphinstone was MA, Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.).1 He was also known as 2nd Baronet [U.K. Life Peer].1 He was barrister, Member of Parliament (M.P.) Hastings and Lewes 1841–47 in 1835.1
