     David Gabriel Morton Mansel-Pleydell was born on 26 March 1923.1 He was the son of Ralph Morton Mansel-Pleydell and Countess Marguerite Marie Louise Barbe Ghislaine d'Ursel.2 He married Elizabeth Susan Luard, daughter of John McVean Luard, on 5 December 1963.1 He died in 1973.1
     David Gabriel Morton Mansel-Pleydell was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in 1942 in the service of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1942 and 1945, where he became a (POW, Jan–May 1945.3 He was decorated with the award of Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.).1
