Leonard Charles Rudolph Messel and Maud Frances Sambourne.1 He married Agatha Anne Alexander, daughter of Commander John Alexander, on 11 October 1933.1 He and Agatha Anne Alexander were divorced in 1945.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Désirée Downes, daughter of Sir Arthur Henry Downes and Florence Maria Chapman, on 29 December 1945.1 He died in June 1971 at age 71 at Midhurst, Sussex, England.2,3
