     Maj.-Gen. Christopher Hamilton was born in 1783.1 He was the son of James Hamilton and Alice Hamilton.2 He married Hon. Sarah Handcock, daughter of Richard Handcock, 2nd Baron Castlemaine of Moydrum and Anne French, on 4 November 1817 at Mount Temple, Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland.3 He died on 14 December 1842.3
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the 97th Regiment.1 He had eight other children.
