Sir Claud Alexander of Ballochmyle, 1st Bt. was born on 15 January 1831.1 He was the son of Boyd Alexander and Sophia Elizabeth Hobhouse.2 He married Eliza Spiers, daughter of Alexander Spiers and Eliza Hagart of Bantaskine, on 12 February 1863.1 He died on 23 May 1899 at age 68.1
