Sir William Maxwell of Calderwood, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1640.1 He was the son of Sir James Maxwell of Calderwood, 1st Bt. and Mary Coattes.1 He married Jean Maxwell, daughter of Sir Alexander Maxwell of Saughton and Janet Moodie, before 9 November 1666.1 He died on 30 April 1703, without surviving issue.1
