Sir Archibald Richard Southby, 2nd Bt. was born on 18 June 1910.2 He is the son of Commander Sir Archibald Richard James Southby, 1st Bt. and Phyllis Mary Garton.3 He and Joan Alice Balston were divorced.2 He married Joan Alice Balston, daughter of Reginald M Balston, on 18 September 1935.2 He married Hon. Ethel Peggy Cunliffe, daughter of Walter Cunliffe, 1st Baron Cunliffe and Edith Cunningham Boothby, in 1964.1 He died in 1988.2
     He was GSO(1) MMIA –47, Royal Air Force Staff College Bracknell 1947, RARO 1948, Honour Lieutenant-Colonel Rifle Bde, US Medal Freedom Rome 1946.2 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.).1 He graduated with a Eton and Magdalen College Oxford Master of Arts (M.A.).2 Daughter of Sir Thomas Bilbe-Robinson, GBE, KCMG, and by her had.2 Lt.-Col.
