     Lt.-Col. Sir Archibald Richard Southby, 2nd Bt. was born on 18 June 1910.2 He is the son of Commander Sir Archibald Richard James Southby, 1st Bt. and Phyllis Mary Garton.2 He and Joan Alice Balston were divorced.2 He married, firstly, Joan Alice Balston, daughter of Reginald M Balston, on 18 September 1935.2 He married, secondly, Olive Marion Bilbe-Robinson, daughter of Sir Thomas Bilbe-Robinson, on 22 May 1947. He married, thirdly, Hon. Ethel Peggy Cunliffe, daughter of Walter Cunliffe, 1st Baron Cunliffe and Edith Cunningham Boothby, in 1964.1 He and Olive Marion Bilbe-Robinson were divorced in 1964. He married, fourthly, Iris MacKay Heriot, daughter of Lt.-Col. Granville MacKay Heriot and Marta Luisa Paynter, in 1979. He died in 1988.2
     He was GSO(1) MMIA –47, Royal Air Force Staff College Bracknell 1947, RARO 1948, Honour Lieutenant-Colonel Rifle Bde, US Medal Freedom Rome 1946.2 He graduated with a Eton and Magdalen College Oxford Master of Arts (M.A.).2 Lt.-Col. Sir Archibald Richard Southby, 2nd Bt. usually went by his middle name of Richard.1 He gained the title of 2nd Baronet Southby. He was Aide-de-Camp to Governor Madras , WW II: Cmdt 170 OCTU 1942–43, CO 10 RB (Italy) 1944, GSO1, 50 BLU (Italy) 1945 in 1934.2 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.2 He lived in 1976 at Montgomery Farm, Eldorado, Sinoia, Zimbabwe.3
