     Robert Fergusson, 12th of Craigdarroch was the son of William Fergusson, 11th of Craigdarroch and Sara Grierson.2 He married, firstly, Grizel Douglas, daughter of James Douglas, 3rd of Morton.2 He married, thirdly, Margaret Chalmers.2 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Grierson, daughter of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag and Margaret Murray, on 22 July 1653.2 He married, fourthly, Agnes Douglas, daughter of Alexander Douglas of Baitfurd, on 15 April 1676.2 He died on 20 April 1687.2,3
     He lived at Craigdarroch, ScotlandG.4 On 4 August 1647 he was served heir to his father.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries-shire in 1648.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries-shire from 1669 to 1670.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries-shire in 1672.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries-shire in 1678.2

He was the son of Claud Hamilton, 1st Lord Paisley and Margaret Seton.1 He married, firstly, Isobel Leslie, daughter of James Leslie, Master of Rothes and Margaret Lindsay, before 24 February 1609.1 He married, secondly, Lady Mary Butler, daughter of Walter Butler, 11th Earl of Ormonde and Hon. Helen Butler, after 1609.1 He died before 1657.1
     He was a commissioner for assessing the sum of £1,000 on County Donegal in 1627.1 He lived at Roscrea, County Tipperary, Ireland.2
