     Commander Hon. Sereld Mordaunt Alan Josslyn Hay was born in November 1877.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Charles Gore Hay, 20th Earl of Erroll and Mary Caroline L'Estrange.1 He married Violet Spiller, daughter of Lt.-Col. Duncan Chisholm Oliver Spiller, on 26 April 1915.1 He died on 12 November 1939, without issue.1
     Commander Hon. Sereld Mordaunt Alan Josslyn Hay gained the rank of Commander-Instructor in 1913 in the service of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, South African Division.1 He was Assistant N.T.O. between 1914 and 1915 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.1 He gained the rank of Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1
