Charles Lambton was born on 3 November 1857.2 He was the son of George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton, 2nd Earl of Durham and Lady Beatrix Frances Hamilton.2 He married Lavinia Marion Garforth, daughter of William Henry Garforth and Hon. Hylda Maria Madelaine Willoughby, on 22 June 1912.2 He died on 5 December 1949 at age 92.2
Brig.-Gen. Hon. Charles Lambton was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He fought in the Nile Expedition in 1898, where he was mentioned in depatches.2 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1898.2 He was Brevet Colonel of the 2nd Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers between 1900 and 1904.2 He was Brevet Colonel of the 34th Infantry Brigade, New Army in 1914.2 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel and Commandant in 1917 in the service of the Durham Volunteer Regiment.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General in 1918.2
