     John Le Mesurier was born on 5 April 1912 at Bedford, Bedfordshire, England.1 He was the son of Charles Elton Halliley and Amy Michelle Le Mesurier.1 He married, firstly, June Melville in 1939.1 He and June Melville were divorced in 1947.1 He married, secondly, Josephine Edwina Jacques in 1949.1 He and Josephine Edwina Jacques were divorced in 1965.1 He married, thirdly, Joan Malin in 1966.1 He died on 15 November 1983 at age 71 at Ramsgate, Kent, England.1
     He was given the name of John Elton le Mesurier Halliley at birth.1 He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England.1 He was an actor, inclduing Sergeant Wilson in Dad's Army.1
