     Stepehn de Johnston married Margaret Garioch, daughter of Sir Andrew Garioch of Caskieben.1
     He was secretary to the Earl of Mar.1 His wife brought him considerable estates in Aberdeenshire.1 He was called ‘the clerk' for his learning.1 He migrated to the North of Scotland due to troubles on his own part of the country.1 He was living between 1331 and 1371.1

     Beatrix Gardyne of that Ilk was the daughter of George Gardyne of Gardyne and Banchory.2 She married, secondly, John Robertson, 2nd of Monzies, son of John Robertson, 1st of Monzies and Margaret Ogilvy, circa 1550.1 She married, firstly, Findla 'Mor' Farquharson, 1st of Invercauld, son of Donald Farquharson and Isobel Stewart.3 She died after 1595.1
     Beatrix Gardyne of that Ilk also went by the nick-name of 'The Sappho of the North' saluted by Mary, Queen of Scots in admiration of her skill as a harpist.3 Her married name became Farquharson. From circa 1550, her married name became Robertson.1

John Johnston of Caskieben1

     John Johnston of Caskieben was the son of George Johnston of that Ilk and Caskieben and Christian Forbes.2 He married, firstly, Janet Turing, daughter of unknown Turing of Foveran.1 He married, secondly, Katherine Lundie, daughter of William Lundie of that Ilk.1 He died on 4 February 1613/14.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) in 1608.1

Arthur Johnston1

     Arthur Johnston was the son of George Johnston of that Ilk and Caskieben and Christian Forbes.2 He died in 1641 at Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1
     He was often ranked next to Buchanan of the Latin poets of Scotland.1 He was physician to King James I and King CHarles I.1 He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He was Rector of King's College Aberdeen and Aberdeen University in 1637.1
