     Lt.-Col. Harry Godfrey Thornton was born in 1846 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.1 He was the son of Harry Thornton and Caroline Margaret Christie.1 He married Lucy Jemima Pym in 1874 at Westminster, London, England.1 He died on 22 September 1892 at Brighton, Sussex, England.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Grenadier Guards.1

     Johanna von Ettingshausen is the daughter of unknown Baron von Ettingshausen.2 She married Norman Macleod, 25th of MacLeod, son of John Norman MacLeod, 24th of MacLeod and Anne Stephenson, on 7 July 1881.1
     From 7 July 1881, her married name became Macleod.1
