     Robert Hepburn of Keith was born after 1664.2 He was the son of William Congalton of that Ilk and Jean Ireland.1 He married Anne Murray, daughter of Sir William Murray, 1st Bt. and Mary Alexander.1 He died before 23 October 1744.2
     He was given the name of Robert Congalton at birth.1 His name was legally changed to Robert Hepburn on inheriting the estates of his great-uncle, Sir Robert Hepburn of Keith.1 He fought in the Battle of Preston in 1715, where he was taken prison and then escaped abroad.1
