     Lt.-Col. Edward Bourryan Luard was born in 1871 at St. Leonard's-on-Sea, Sussex, England.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Richard George Amherst Luard and Hannah Chamberlin.1 He married Louise Henrietta Smith in 1905 at Hereford, Herefordshire, England.1 He died on 24 April 1916, killed in action.1
     He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 1st Battalion, King's Shropshire Shropshire Light Infantry.1 He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1

Charles Elmhirst and Frances Dorothea Hunt.1 He married, firstly, Lilian Frances Hatfeild, daughter of John Hatfeild and Mariana Frances Davide, in 1901 at Horncastle, Lincolnshire, England.1 He married, secondly, Agnes Lockwood, daughter of William Lockwood, in 1907 at Ripon, Yorkshire, England.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Norfolk Regiment.1
