Lt.-Gen. Hon. Arthur Dillon was born on 3 September 1750. He was the son of Henry Dillon, 11th Viscount Dillon and Lady Charlotte Lee. He married, firstly, Lucie de Rothe, daughter of Comte (?) de Rothe, in 1769. He married, secondly, Mary Francoise Laus de Girardin in 1784. He died on 13 April 1794 at age 43, guillotined.
