     Mary McLean was born circa 1838 at Jersey, Channel Islands.1 She married, firstly, Alexander Joseph Devereux, son of George Devereux, on 23 January 1861 at Waipawa, New Zealand.1 She married, secondly, William MacFarlane on 24 February 1891 at Waikaia, Southland, New Zealand.1
     From 23 January 1861, her married name became Devereux.1 From 24 February 1891, her married name became MacFarlane.1
