     Sir John Swinton, 25th of that Ilk was the son of Sir John Swinton, 23rd of that Ilk and Frances Hancock.1 He married Anne Sinclair, daughter of Sir Robert Sinclair of Longformacus, 1st Bt. and Margaret Alexander, in 1698.2 He married Sarah Welch, daughter of William Welch.2 He died in 1723.1
     During f's eclipse.2 Returned to Britain at the Restoration.2 He was voted for Union of S and E Parls, first Member of Parliament (M.P.) for that County GB Parl.2 Succeeded his bro.2 Merchant in Holl.2 He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) Berwicks in 1690.2 In 1690 decree of forfeiture rescinded and the family estate was restored to him.2

Lady Margaret Stewart1

     Lady Margaret Stewart was the daughter of William Stewart, 2nd Lord Blantyre and Helen Scott.1 She married Sir John Swinton, 23rd of that Ilk, son of Alexander Swinton, 22nd of that Ilk and Margaret Home, in 1645.1 She died in 1662 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, in prison.1
     From 1645, her married name became Swinton.1

     Sir John Swinton, 23rd of that Ilk was the son of Alexander Swinton, 22nd of that Ilk and Margaret Home.1 He married, firstly, Lady Margaret Stewart, daughter of William Stewart, 2nd Lord Blantyre and Helen Scott, in 1645.1 He married, secondly, Frances Hancock in 1671. He died in 1678.1
     Leading Scots supporter of CROMWELL.2 Scot rep English Parl.2 He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) , taken prisoner Battle of Worcester 1651 in 1649.2 In 1651 forfeit as to his estates and excommunicated.2 In 1655 memb Cncl of State for Scotland.2 In 1657 joined Quakers.2 In 1661 tried for high treason and suffered forfeiture and imprisonment.2 In 1667 released.2

St. Columba (?)1

     St. Columba (?) was born on 7 December 521.1 He was the son of Feidhlimidh (?) and Eithne of Leinster.2 He died on 9 June 597 at age 75.1
     In 553 he founded various Irish monastic churches, Durrow Monastery.1 He was apostle of the northern Picts.1 In 563 he founded the Abbey of Iona.1 In 574 he converted Bruide, King of the Picts, and inaugurated his own cousin Aidan as King of the Scots of Dalriada.1
