     Lt.-Cdr. Gerald Francoys Needham Knox, 7th Earl of Ranfurly was born on 4 January 1929.¹ He is the son of Captain John Needham Knox and Monica Kitson.¹ He married Rosemary Beatrice Vesey Holt, daughter of Air Vice Marshal Felton Vesey Holt, on 22 January 1955.¹

     Rosemary Beatrice Vesey Holt is the daughter of Air Vice Marshal Felton Vesey Holt.¹ She married Lt.-Cdr. Gerald Francoys Needham Knox, 7th Earl of Ranfurly, son of Captain John Needham Knox and Monica Kitson, on 22 January 1955.¹
      Her married name became Knox. As a result of her marriage, Rosemary Beatrice Vesey Holt was styled as Countess of Ranfurly in 1988.

     Air Vice Marshal Felton Vesey Holt was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).¹ He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.).¹ He gained the rank of Air Vice Marshal in the service of the Royal Air Force.¹
