Sir Charles Stuart FitzRoy Douglas-Hamilton James was born on 16 July 1738 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3 He was the son of Charles Hamilton, Comte d'Arran and Antoinette Courtenay.4 He married Catherine Napier, daughter of Sir Gerard Napier, 5th Bt. and Bridget Phelips, on 15 June 1760 at The Church of St. Mary, Moor Crichel, Dorset, England.4,2 He died on 9 April 1800 at age 61 at Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3
     He lived at Korlings, Suffolk, England.1 He lived at Kensington, London, England.1 He was also known as Charles Hamilton.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.)2
