Sir Henry Skipwith, 1st Bt.1

     Sir Henry Skipwith, 1st Bt. is the son of Sir William Skipwith and Margaret Cave.2 He married, firstly, Amy Kempe, daughter of Sir Thomas Kempe and Dorothy Thompson.1 He married, secondly, Blandina Pennen, daughter of John Pennen.2
     He was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He was appointed Knight in 1609.1 He was created 1st Baronet Skipwith, of Prestwould, co. Leicester [England] on 20 December 1622.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Leicestershire in 1636.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Leicestershire in 1641.1 He held the office of Gentleman of the Privy Chamber to King Charles I.2 He was Commissioner of Array.2 He was declared a delinquent by Parliament and fined £1,114 with the Prestwould estate declared forfeit and was acquired by Christopher Packe.2

George Skipwith1
