     Herbert Dixon, 1st Baron Glentoran was born on 23 January 1880.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Daniel Dixon, 1st Bt. and Annie Shaw.2,1 He married Hon. Emily Ina Florence Bingham, daughter of John George Barry Bingham, 5th Baron Clanmorris of Newbrook and Matilda Catherine Maude Ward, on 25 November 1905.2 He died on 20 July 1950 at age 70.1
     He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)2 He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Kildare in 1916.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Unionist) for Belfast Pottinger between 1918 and 1922.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Belfast East [Northern Ireland] between 1921 and 1929.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary, Ministery of Finance [Northern Ireland] between 1921 and 1942.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Kildare.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Unionist) for Belfast East between 1922 and 1939.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Down.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Northern ireland] on 28 November 1923.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Belfast Bloomfield [Northern Ireland] between May 1929 and 1950.1 He was created 1st Baron Glentoran, of Ballyalloly, co. Down [U.K.] on 8 July 1939.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Kildare.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Dixon [U.K., 1903] on 10 May 1950.2

Hon. Sir Daniel Dixon, 1st Bt. and Annie Shaw, on 25 November 1905.1 She died on 25 April 1957 at age 73.1
     Her married name became Dixon. After her marriage, Hon. Emily Ina Florence Bingham was styled as Baroness Glentoran on 8 July 1939.

Peter Ross and Hon. Angela Ierne Evelyn Dixon, on 24 July 1954.1 He married, secondly, Patricia Carolyn Ash in 1984.1 He died on 11 September 2020 at age 91 at Stangford, County Down, Ireland.3
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Down.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Down in 1981.1 He lived in 2003 at Old Court, Strangford, County Down, IrelandG.1
