     He gained the rank of Temporary 2nd Lieutenant in the service of the Royal West Surrey Regiment.1

Thomas John de Burgh was born on 1 November 1851.2 He was the son of Thomas de Burgh and Jane Campbell-Graham.3 He married Emily Anne Fock, daughter of Major John Henry Edward Fock, 4th Baron de Robeck and Sophia Charlotte Burton, on 23 April 1878.2 He died on 7 September 1931 at age 79.2
     He held the office of High Sheriff of County Kildare in 1884.2 He was commander of the 17th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 57th Regiment and 5th Dragoon Guards.2 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Kildare.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Kildare.1 He lived at Oldtown, Naas, County Kildare, Ireland.1
