Maria Emma Georgina Preston is the daughter of Captain Thomas Henry Preston and Georgina Geneviève Louisa Campbell.1 She married William Ulick O'Connor Cuffe, 4th Earl of Desart, son of Otway O'Conner Cuffe, 3rd Earl of Desart and Lady Elizabeth Lucy Campbell, on 1 June 1871.1 She and William Ulick O'Connor Cuffe, 4th Earl of Desart were divorced in 1878.1
As a result of her marriage, Maria Emma Georgina Preston was styled as Countess of Desart on 1 June 1871. From 1 June 1871, her married name became Cuffe.

George FitzGerald was born on 24 December 1809.2 He was the son of Lord Robert Stephen FitzGerald and Sophia Charlotte Feilding.2,1 He married Mary Barton, daughter of Thomas Barton and Mary Ponsonby, on 8 September 1834.1 He died on 29 January 1853 at age 43.1
