     Major Alexander Henderson Galbraith was born on 29 December 1904.1 He is the son of William Brodie Galbraith and Anne Jack Dunlop.2 He married Eleanor Lorimer, daughter of William Lorimer, on 28 November 1934.1 He married Marjorie Smith on 31 March 1981.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.1 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Major in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.1 He fought in the Second World War.1

     From 12 April 1923, her married name became Martin.
