     Hon. Lavinia Mary Strutt was born on 22 March 1916.1 She was the daughter of Algernon Henry Strutt, 3rd Baron Belper and Hon. Eva Isabel Marion Bruce.1 She married Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan-Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk, son of Henry Fitzalan-Howard, 15th Duke of Norfolk and Gwendoline Mary Herries, Baroness Herries of Terregles, on 27 January 1937.1 She died on 10 December 1995 at age 79.1
     Her married name became Fitzalan-Howard. As a result of her marriage, Hon. Lavinia Mary Strutt was styled as Duchess of Norfolk in 1956. She was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1971.1 She held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex between 1975 and 1995.1 She was Steward at Goodwood between 1975 and 1995.1 She gained the title of Dame Lavinia Fitzalan-Howard in 1990.1 She was invested as a Lady Companion, Order of the Garter (L.G.) in 1990.1

     Lady Anne Elizabeth Fitzalan-Howard, Baroness Herries of Terregles was born on 12 June 1938. She is the daughter of Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan-Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk and Hon. Lavinia Mary Strutt. She married Sir Michael Colin Cowdrey, Baron Cowdrey of Tonbridge, son of Ernest Arthur Cowdrey and Kathleen Mary Taylor, in 1985.2
     Lady Anne Elizabeth Fitzalan-Howard, Baroness Herries of Terregles gained the title of Baroness Herries of Terregles, suo jure. From 1985, her married name became Cowdrey.
