He married Isabelle Prinzessin von Isenburg, daughter of Franz Alexander Prinz von Isenburg and Christine Gräfin von Saurma, on 26 April 1998 at Birstein, Germany.1
     Friedrich August Maximilian Wilhelm Carl Fürst zu Wied usually went by his middle name of Carl.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Fürst zu Wied on 28 August 2000.1
