George Palmer1

     George Palmer was born on 11 February 1772.1 He was the son of William Palmer and Mary Horsley.1 He married Anna Maria Bund, daughter of William Bund, on 29 December 1795.1 He died on 12 May 1853 at age 81.1
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.1 Between 1826 and 1858 he designed the lifeboat in general use.1 He was deputy chairman of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution between 1828 and 1853.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for South Essex between 1836 and 1847.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He lived at Nazeing Park, Essex, England.1 He had three sons and two daughters.1
