     He fought in the First World War.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards.1

     Lady Cynthia Mary Evelyn Charteris was born on 27 September 1887.2 She was the daughter of Hugo Richard Charteris, 11th Earl of Wemyss and Mary Constance Wyndham.2 She married Hon. Herbert Asquith, son of Herbert Henry Asquith, 1st Earl of Oxford and Asquith and Helen Kelsall Melland, on 28 July 1910.1 She died on 31 March 1960 at age 72.1
     Her married name became Asquith. She has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3

Perceval Lawrence Montagu Battye, on 17 February 1938.1 He and Diana Eveline Montagu Battye were divorced in 1952.1 He married, secondly, Helga Brigitta Ebba Elizabeth Ritter, daughter of Dr. Walther Sigmund Casimir Ritter, on 8 October 1953.1
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He lived in 2003 at 149 Rusthall Avenue, London, England.1
