     Lt.-Col. James Michael Heigham Royce Tomkin was born on 10 November 1918 at Norton, Suffolk, England.4 He was the son of Colonel J. W. Royce Tomkin and Mary Charters.2,3 He married Margaret Elinor Bunbury, daughter of Sir Charles Henry Napier Bunbury, 11th Bt. and Katherine Reid, on 11 September 1945.2 He died on 30 July 2008 at age 89.4
     Lt.-Col. James Michael Heigham Royce Tomkin fought in the Battle of El Alamein.4 He was decorated with the award of Military Cross (M.C.) in 1942.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).2
